When it comes to your dream wedding, you’re not ever exactly thinking ‘Plan B.’ You’re thinking, Convict Lake, with the sun setting behind red-hued peaks as aspen leaves whisper in the faintest breeze.
Wait, was that thunder I just heard?
It rained on Daniella and Ryan’s big day … almost all day. An hour before the wedding, the outdoor, lakeshore ceremony spot was soaked—time for Plan B. Green Fox Events (GFE) worked with the Restaurant at Convict Lake to transform the reception venue to accommodate the ceremony. The tent, with summer flowers, elegantly set tables and soft lighting was beautiful and cozy.
Of course, as soon as the ceremony ended, the sun came out and Daniella and Ryan’s wedding guests got to enjoy one of those amazing Eastern Sierra evenings with the fresh-rain scent of sage in the air, under the stars. The whole experience made for a great story afterwards.
Inclement weather and last minute emergencies can always happen, and the GFE team prepares for these possibilities. It takes an all-hands approach to pull together a seamless Plan B (or C or D). GFE’s team of professional event producers stands ready to turn dreams into reality, rain or shine.
GFE owner Sandra DiDomizio knows destination weddings, starting with her own, in Italy. She founded GFE in 2008 after serving as special events manager for the Town of Mammoth Lakes for four years, and working in the luxury active travel industry. A multi-lingual mother of three, Sandra says the name “Green Fox” speaks to the company’s commitment to being good stewards of the environment, and to the cleverness, resourcefulness and adaptability needed to make their clients happy through expert event production.
Cara Richards came to Mammoth Lakes from California’s Central Coast with a degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration, with an emphasis on special events. She’s put that to good use with GFE, working on weddings, corporate events, private/public events, festivals, sporting events, wine events and concierge services, all creatively planned and executed with the beauty of the Eastern Sierra in mind. Cara enjoys the region’s incredible scenery while skiing, hiking, climbing and fly fishing.
Randy Lucas is the GFE team’s operations master, deftly providing the behind-the-scenes craftsmanship needed to make every event a success. As mild mannered as they come, Randy is the guy who just gets things done. Build a beer bar — been there! Drive miles on dirt roads to drop off an arbor — done that! Shoveled 2 feet of snow before a late spring wedding ceremony — that’s on the list too! Randy has lived in June Lake since 2011 where he loves to fish and spend time with his dog Bear.
Whether it’s a corporate retreat with no fewer than 10 activities or national mountain bike championship races, Kristy Williams can handle multiple moving parts with ease. Known as the taskmaster of the GFE team, Kristy’s lived in Mammoth Lakes since 1992, gaining top-notch event and project management experience along the way.
Newest team member, Carole Mills, is also a new mom (we feel so lucky when we can borrow her from her family!) She recently moved to Mammoth from Southern California where she managed a large event venue, overseeing every bit of the client experience from venue tour through event clean up. Carole is never hesitant to dive in and do what needs to be done – she describes herself as also having been “a server, bartender, seamstress, counselor, designer, flower arranger and GPS when needed.”
The final member of the GFE team is YOU! We learn something new from every client and enjoy working collaboratively with each wedding couple, event manager, party-thrower, home owner and resort guest. We can’t wait for our next event … rain or shine.
